The job included tricky tile work, heavy “floating” cabinetry, a furred wall, and other challenges. I was thrilled to be able to purchase my dream home - a heritage apartment in the West End. My feelings were mixed though, as I walked from room to room, working to ignore the "updates" that had occurred over the 80 years of previous residents that spoiled the integrity of the heritage design, crowded the rooms and could only be considered eyesores.

On Thursday, I met Kai. On Friday, I signed the contract. On Sunday, the child, the puppy and I moved to Grammy's house. On Monday, the work began.

In six enjoyable, exciting weeks, Kai transformed my place to my vision of it. He guided every choice. Every decision was easy. His calm and positive energy pervaded my home. Kai is an adept craftsman, and excellent designer, a diplomatic and efficient manager. He keeps the competing interests of all parties in harmony and comes in on time and on budget!

Kai is a master at understanding people - and he is able to interpret his insight into an oasis that will have you staying home and happily ensconced in your haven, even in good weather.

We originally set out to renovate our three upstairs bathrooms, and we were so happy with the work that when it was done, we decided to also renovate the main floor powder room. When it comes time to take on our next major renovation (our kitchen), we will be calling Kai. One thing that made Kai stand out from the other contractors that we interviewed for the job was the design aspect of his work--and he delivered. He had a good feel for our style, but offered up suggestions that we would not have otherwise entertained; however, a number of these design aspects are the things we love the most about the finished product. In terms of working with Kai, he was great at keeping us updated with the progress, what was being done and why, and what to expect next. A very important consideration for us was the impact of the ongoing work on our young children and this was also one of the reasons we chose Kai. His interactions and demeanor with our kids was also something that really stood out for us and they were excited to greet Kai each morning. In summary, this was our first renovation and after going through the process and seeing the finished product, we are very happy and it will not be our last.

Kai Venemore of More Visuals was recommended to me by a neighbour. At the time we were both renovating our units in an older Mount Pleasant condo. I had done some renos and had different contractors in for electrical, plumbing, drywall and plastering. Most contractors were great but there was one who did a really bad job, over charged and took the wind out of my sails re: the reno.

I had Kai come in to do finishing work of base boards and door mouldings; install radiant heat system and tile in the bathroom; and repair a drywall issue left by problem contractor.

Kai was really great about presenting a quote, if extra labor or materials cost came up he let me know before he proceeded. He and fellow workers were conscientious about cleaning up after the work day and when the job was finished. Kai and his team are professional and proficient, I am very pleased with More Visuals work and highly recommend them.

Last year, acting on a recommendation, I contacted Kai with a request that he gut my old 1928 kitchen to ready the space for a new one. Opening up the walls revealed a number of problems I had not expected. At this point Kai pretty much took over and guided the project from beginning to end.

The whole process was so easy and satisfying.  You clearly listened to us and drew a great design. The discussion about the cost was open and transparent.  And the build was smooth - covering our other furniture, keeping the dust to a minimum, keeping the bedroom door closed, consulting often with us about options. Also we so appreciate how respectful you were about our strata rules. Finally, a little thing but one that had an impact on us was the comfort and ease of your relationship with John - both of you chatting amicably while working, laughing, listening to classical music... Pretty cool.  The final product came in within 5% of budget and exceeds our expectations!
